  • Waybill: Choose to track shipments via waybill number. This gives a breakdown of every checkpoint of your shipment, including individual timecodes for each.
  • Reference number: Simply type the reference number and click “Track” to find the shipment.

4. Creating waybills and invoices

Generating waybills and invoices on MyDHL+ is as simple and intuitive as completing an online form. Once you’ve entered all the required shipment details, such as sender and recipient information, package contents, value, and customs data, the platform automatically generates the necessary documents.

For added peace of mind, exporters can apply for shipment insurance directly through the MyDHL+ platform for an additional fee. This feature helps protect the value of your goods in transit, offering financial security in the event of loss or damage.2

Checking rates and inquiring about prices in MyDHL+

Before creating your shipment, it's important to get a clear estimate of your shipping costs. MyDHL+ has a calculator that makes this process simple and accessible by allowing users to obtain a Rate and Time Quote from multiple locations within the platform.

You can have your estimated shipping rates calculated in any of the following ways:

  • From the Dashboard: Click on MyDHL+ Home in the top menu bar, then select “Get a Rate and Time Quote”.
  • Via the "Ship" Menu: Navigate to the "Ship" button in the menu bar and choose “Get a Rate and Time Quote” from the dropdown list.
  • From the Homepage: Scroll to the bottom banner and click the “Get a Quote” button.

Step-by-step guide to get a shipping quote on MyDHL+

Follow these steps to calculate your shipping costs using MyDHL+:

1. Enter origin and destination details

Start by selecting the relevant countries for the From and To sections. Fill in complete address information, including city, state, and postal code (if applicable).

2. Proceed to the quick quote screen

Click ‘Next’ after entering your shipment details to move to the Quick Quote screen.

3. Specify destination type

Indicate whether the destination is a residential or business address.

4. Select shipment type

Choose between Documents or Packages. If you're unsure which option applies, click on “We Can Help You Decide” for clarification. You can also click “Tips for Weighing and Measuring” for guidance on package dimensions.

5. Enter shipment value (For documents)

If you're shipping documents, you'll be prompted to enter the declared value. This information helps determine whether additional shipment value protection is needed, depending on the country of origin.

6. Choose your packaging

Select the appropriate packaging type and provide quantity, weight, and dimensions. Please note that the units of measurement may vary depending on your shipping location.

7. Get a quote based on your account rates

For customized pricing, tick the box labelled “Show My Account Rates.” Enter your DHL Express export account number and postcode for verification. Then, click the green “Get Quote” button to view your personalized shipping estimate.

Creating a waybill in MyDHL+

Start from your MyDHL+ dashboard or use the “Ship Now” button. You will then be provided a form where you fill out the information required for your waybill.

The information will include:

  • Full names and addresses of both the shipper and the recipient
  • Information about the designated carrier
  • Detailed description and declared value of the goods
  • Quantity, weight, and dimensions of the packaged items
  • Names of the departure and destination airports
  • Any special handling instructions (e.g., designation as "Dangerous Goods")
  • Terms and conditions outlined in the transportation contract
  • Payment responsibility for duties and taxes, specifying whether the shipment is Duties & Taxes Paid (DTP)—where the shipper covers all costs—or Duties & Taxes Unpaid (DTU)—where the recipient assumes payment upon delivery

  • Affix the air waybill label securely to the top of the package: This placement ensures quick reference during handling and inspection throughout the shipping process.
  • Do not cover the label with tape, paperwork, or other labels: Keep the barcode and shipment information clearly visible to avoid scanning issues.
  • Include a spare copy inside the package: As an extra precaution, place a duplicate waybill inside the shipment. This ensures that the shipment can still be identified if the external label becomes detached or damaged in transit.
