Packing advice
Parcels could travel thousands of miles through DHL’s global network to reach their destinations. To ensure that your shipments reach their destination in the same condition as they left and that they don’t damage anyone else’s shipments, it is important to ensure they are correctly packaged.
Our essential packing guideIt's all in the box choice
Always use high quality corrugated cardboard boxes for parcels. For fragile or heavy items, double-wall or tri-wall constructions are recommended. Use cardboard envelopes for lightweight documents
Leave no empty space
It is important to completely fill empty space within the box to avoid contents moving during transit which can cause damage to both contents and box. Ensure there is sufficient cushioning material for fragile contents.
6cm distance
Always place items being shipped in the centre of the box with at least 6cm of separation from any external walls or corners
Wrap items individually and use dividers
When shipping multiple fragile items in a single package, always wrap each item individually and separate with corrugated inserts or other divider materials as appropriate.
H-taping
Apply tape to your box as show in the image to ensure all seams and open edges are secured. To do this you should use pressure sensitive tape. This could be polypropylene tape (brown plastic tape), vinyl adhesive tape (electrical tape), or fibre-reinforced paper tape (duct tape).
Labelling
Fix the shipment label securely on the top surface of the box, envelope, or flyer bag. When you print a label, two copies are produced - a transport one and an archive one. Put the transport one on your packaging and the archive one inside - this will help us identify your shipment if the transport label is detached or damaged.
