How to Calculate Volumetric Weight:

How to Calculate Volumetric Weight:

Shipping costs are not determined solely by the actual weight of your package. They can also be influenced by the space the shipment occupies on the aircraft. This is known as volumetric weight (or dimensional weight).

Volumetric weight reflects the density of a package:
a less dense item takes up more space relative to its actual weight.

The volumetric weight is calculated and compared to the actual weight of the shipment. The higher of the two is used to determine the shipping cost.

Volumetric Weight Formula

  • 139 for inches / pounds
  • 5,000 for centimeters / kilograms
