Starting July 14, 2026, DHL Express will gradually expand its unattended delivery (contactless delivery) service for shipments arriving in Japan from overseas, rolling out nationwide. This expansion makes unattended delivery a standard delivery option, designed to offer more customers a smoother, more convenient delivery experience.
As a result, shipments addressed to individual customers — where the overseas sender (such as an online retailer) has already consented to unattended delivery — will no longer require an in-person handover or signature. Instead, your courier will deliver to a location judged safe for drop-off, even if you're not home at the time. This means you can receive your packages more conveniently, regardless of your availability.
If you prefer to specify your delivery date or receive your shipment in person, you can do so flexibly by registering in advance for On Demand Delivery.
