JEUNEORA AND THE PATHWAY TO A MORE SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
  • Jeuneora is one of the first DHL customers to use the GoGreen Plus service in New Zealand

  • GoGreen Plus supports Jeuneora’s sustainability ambitions by reducing their carbon emissions from the transportation of all their international shipments through the use of sustainable aviation fuel

Auckland, April 2024 – New Zealand-made supplements and skincare brand, Jeuneora have signed up for DHL’s GoGreen Plus service to reduce their carbon emissions by 30% for their international shipments. DHL Express, the world’s leading international express service provider launched GoGreen Plus in 2023. The service uses an ‘insetting’ approach to help customers reduce carbon emissions through the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

As a successful New Zealand business, customers all over the world want to get their hands on Jeuneora’s locally made supplements and skincare. Jeuneora relies on DHL Express to connect them to their customers globally and this is where SAF comes in.

Jeuneora is renowned for being passionate about the environment, with officially becoming a B Corp business in August 2022, just one part of their sustainability journey. The B Corp certification measures a company’s approach and performance in sustainability and acknowledges the journey of continuous improvement.

Monique Kaminski, Jeuneora CEO & Founder said “Jeuneora is delighted about our commitment to advancing our business operations towards greener practices, which exemplifies our role as a catalyst for change in implementing climate-neutral practices.”

“Signing up to GoGreen Plus with DHL is an important milestone in our efforts to reduce our carbon emissions, especially as we continue to grow our international presence” continued Kaminski.

Insetting through GoGreen Plus allows customers to reduce their Scope 3 emissions, which are the indirect greenhouse gas emissions that occur in a company's value chain, including downstream transportation and distribution. Unlike offsetting initiatives, GoGreen Plus (insetting) reduces emissions within the logistics sector and therewith can be used for DHL customers' voluntary emission reporting and follows the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi) philosophy.

Customers can choose the amount of SAF according to their needs, including the extent of carbon reduction, the availability of certificates and reporting tools.

Selina Deadman, Vice President Commercial, DHL Express New Zealand said, “We know that our customers are committed to reducing their environmental impact, so it’s important that we’re giving them the means to do so. I’m delighted that Jeuneora can fully leverage our investment in SAF to enable them to bring down their Scope 3 emissions.”

DHL is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. The GoGreen Plus Service is the latest initiative to be launched, adding to the company's existing initiatives of implementing carbon-neutral designs for all new buildings and electrifying 60% of last-mile delivery vehicles by 2030. Currently, in New Zealand, ten electric vehicles will be deployed by the end of April 2024, and the latest service centers opened in Auckland and Hamilton were equipped with daylight harvesting technology and integrated with rainwater harvesting systems.

Net-zero emissions by 2050 is the goal

In 2023, DHL Express launched the GoGreen Plus service, allowing customers to reduce the CO2e emissions associated with their international shipments through the use of SAF. GoGreen Plus is made possible by three of the most significant SAF contracts with bp, Neste, and World Energy. SAF is made from alternative raw materials with a sustainable energy profile, including used cooking oil, waste and hydrogen. Conventional carbon-intensive aviation fuels or kerosene are derived from mineral oil.

Air transport accounts for around 90 percent of DHL Express’s carbon footprint, so alternative sustainable solutions are crucial for achieving greener logistics.
