This summer, DHL GoTeach Romania brought together young people from SOS Children’s Villages Romania for an experience focused on people, careers, confidence and new opportunities. The programme had two stages: Expose, with visits across Bucharest, Bacău and Sibiu, and Explore, through a two-day MiniCamp in Bucharest.
🌍 EXPOSE | Discovering Jobs and Future Careers
The first stage took young people to different locations and companies, where they had the opportunity to see what different jobs and industries really look like in practice.
In Bucharest, they visited DHL Supply Chain Romania, where they discovered the operations behind the Pepco distribution centre and followed the journey of products from the warehouse to stores. At Paragon Customer Communications Romania, they learned how technology is used for personalised printing, communications, packaging and fulfilment.

In Bacău, a visit to DHL Express showed them what happens behind an international delivery and how the local team connects the city with the rest of the world. At Case Smart, they discovered smart home technologies and how these solutions can become part of everyday life.
At DHL Express Sibiu, the young participants followed the journey of a parcel, from shipment to destination, and learned more about couriers, ServicePoints and the technology supporting operations. The day ended at AUMOVIO, where they discovered the automotive industry and got to see industrial robots, automated production lines and testing laboratories.
Three cities, several industries and plenty of questions. And perhaps the most important thing they discovered? There are many different paths you can take when building your future.
🚀 EXPLORE | Two Days in the World of DHL
After the visits across the country came the Explore stage. On 4–5 August, 22 young people from Bucharest, Bacău and Sibiu came together in Bucharest for a MiniCamp filled with activities, challenges and teamwork.
For some of them, it was their first visit to a Head Office, their first experience in a corporate environment, and even their first time visiting Bucharest or travelling by metro.
The first day began at the DHL Express Romania Head Office, with a safety briefing and an office tour. The young participants had the chance to discover different departments and learn more about the people and activities that make it possible for DHL to connect the world.
📖 Living Library | Stories That Inspire
One of the highlights of the MiniCamp was the Living Library.
This time, the “books” were DHL volunteers, who shared their personal and professional stories. They talked about their career journeys, the choices they had made, the challenges they had faced and the lessons they had learned along the way.
The young participants had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in open conversations about careers and what it really means to build your own professional path.
🗺️ Treasure Hunt & 💡 Business Ideas
After the Living Library came a Treasure Hunt, where the young participants worked in teams, solved clues and relied on attention, speed and communication to reach the finish line.
Then, each team received a new challenge: to imagine their own business and a potential partnership with DHL.

They discussed ideas, customers, markets and solutions before presenting their projects to the other teams. It was a great opportunity to practise creativity, teamwork and the confidence to stand behind their own ideas.
📦 Day 2 | DHL Beyond the Office
On the second day, the group visited the DHL Express operational facility in Ștefănești, where they discovered what happens behind every delivery.

They toured the facility, learned more about operational processes and saw the couriers’ vans. Then came the hands-on activities: the CIS Puzzle, cube-building and a packaging competition, where speed, attention to detail and teamwork all mattered. 🧩📦
💬 A Special Meeting with European Leadership
After the Expose and Explore stages came to an end, GoTeach continued with a special meeting at SOS Children’s Villages Romania.

Three of the young participants had the opportunity to speak directly with members of the DHL Express Europe team: Derya Ozer – CFO, Eva Leitner – Senior Vice President HR, and Maria Flamm – CEO Office Manager.
They asked questions, talked about their plans and learned more about the leaders’ perspectives on the future, as well as the journeys behind successful leadership careers.
To mark the beginning of the new school year, the three young participants also received special Back to School backpacks. 🎒
❤️ More Than 460 Hours of Volunteering
Behind all these activities were our colleagues, who shared their time and experience to make the programme possible.
Throughout GoTeach, DHL Express Romania colleagues contributed more than 460 hours of volunteering. These hours were dedicated to visits, activities, workshops, preparation and, above all, spending meaningful time with the young participants.
For us, GoTeach means more than a programme. It means giving young people the opportunity to discover new things, meet people who can inspire them and see that they have more options when it comes to their future.
🚀 And the Story Continues
The Expose and Explore stages may have come to an end, but the GoTeach journey does not stop here.
Starting this autumn, Mentorship, Job Shadowing and internship opportunities will give the young participants the chance to keep learning and turn this year’s experiences into concrete steps towards their future.
Because sometimes, to start imagining your future, all you need is someone willing to open a door. 🚀
