DHL Express and SunGod, the leading performance eyewear brand, have announced a new aspect of their ongoing partnership. SunGod is already a Certified B Corp™ and verified Carbon Neutral company, and is now leveraging DHL’s GoGreen Plus service to achieve even more sustainable delivery of its products worldwide.
DHL’s GoGreen Plus service enables the company to mitigate the environmental impact of its international shipping. With GoGreen Plus, DHL will reduce (inset) CO2 emissions from air transport through the purchase of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), which is a more sustainable alternative to traditional jet fuel. The solution offers customers the chance to tailor the CO2e reduction they want to achieve.
The collaboration marks a significant step towards SunGod further reducing carbon emissions in its global supply chain and reflects both companies’ commitment to environmental responsibility. For SunGod, sustainability is embedded in the company’s core values with the brand known for its high quality, durable eyewear products designed with low-impact materials and a lifetime guarantee that helps keep products in circulation and reduce waste. Meanwhile DHL’s GoGreen Plus service was launched in 2023 as part of the Group's sustainability goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. It contributes to the interim target of using 30 percent SAF for all air transport by 2030.
By using GoGreen Plus for 12 months, SunGod has saved 207.99t CO2e - a 32% saving facilitated by SAF compared to traditional jet fuel.
Dougal Russell, Head of People and Planet at SunGod said: “We are delighted to be expanding our existing partnership with DHL, embracing the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel for our exports. This collaboration allows us to not only minimise our environmental impact even further, but also to challenge our competitors to do more, and collectively raise the bar for sustainability-focused logistics in our industry.”
Duncan Heron, DHL Express said: “SunGod is a really inspiring brand and we’re proud to play a part in its sustainability journey. By helping the company to leverage SAF to reduce its environmental impact we hope to help it reach new heights by engaging international customers without compromising its values.”
In line with its Sustainability Roadmap, DHL Group aims to offer a green alternative for all products and services across all divisions.
