Frequently Asked Questions
Can individuals use DHL services?
Yes, absolutely. Individuals are welcome to use our services. You can choose options tailored to your needs, such as shipping frequency and payment methods. Our guide, “Ship easily without a DHL account”, explains how to select the right service based on your purpose and how often you ship.
Why do I have to pay customs duties and other taxes when receiving a package from overseas? What are they, and how are they calculated?
In most cases, imported goods are subject to taxes such as customs duties and consumption tax. The main import taxes include customs duties and excise taxes. Customs duties are charges imposed by customs authorities on goods brought into a country for sale. The amount of tax and duty you pay depends on several factors, such as:
The value of the goods (including insurance and freight)
The type and intended use of the goods
The country or region of origin
The applicable tariff rate of the importing country
The Harmonized System (HS) code
