Whether you are importing or exporting, DHL makes it simple for you to calculate a shipping rate quote with the service options of your choice, as well as find up-to-date transit times. Getting a rate quote is easy.
With MyDHL+, simply login and go to the Get Quote tab. During the quote process, be sure to check – Show my account rates. Input the origin and destination details and the package scale weight and dimensions (length x width x height). Dimensions are used to calculate Volumetric Weight. Shipping charges are based on the greater of the shipment’s actual weight or volumetric weight. All available DHL Express services – with a guaranteed delivery date and estimated charges – will be presented.
Our rate guide includes up-to-date information regarding transit cost by trade lane and volumetric weight. In addition, complete descriptions of DHL Optional Services, Surcharges and Customs Services are provided. Transit costs are billed in accordance with the current published rates at the time the shipment booking is made.
The cost of a shipment can be affected by the amount of space that it occupies on an aircraft, rather than its actual weight. This is the volumetric (or dimensional) weight. The volumetric weight of a shipment is a calculation that reflects the density of a package. A less dense item occupies more space in relation to its actual weight. The volumetric weight is calculated and compared with the actual weight of the shipment to determine which is greater. Then the higher weight is used to calculate the shipment cost. The volumetric divisor is 139 for inches/pounds or 5,000 for centimeters/kilograms.
