3. Pack Your Heavy Items the Right Way

• Use a new, double-walled corrugated box wherever possible; used boxes may have weakened walls.

• Seal all seams and edges with strong packing tape — at least two full passes along every edge.
• Clearly mark the box "Heavy" and "This Way Up" if orientation matters.

• Soft-shell bags and irregularly shaped items should always be placed inside a box to make sure that handles and zippers don’t break during conveyor handling.

• Declare the contents accurately. DHL can’t ship certain items, including liquids in large quantities and lithium batteries, even if they’re stored inside luggage.
