As global temperatures continue to rise and climate change affects millions of lives around the world, sustainability is not just an added bonus for companies, but a core attribute for long-term growth and relevance. DHL Express plays an important part in forging a green path for logistics as the world’s leading logistics company.
To further our goals of sustainability in 2025, DHL Express embarked on several sustainability-focused initiatives aimed to reduce our carbon footprint and inculcate a culture of green logistics.
Our 2025 decarbonization efforts
1. Partnership with Neste for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Procurement
DHL Express signed a landmark deal with Neste to procure 9.5 million litres of locally produced Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) from July 2025 to June 2026 for flights out of Singapore Changi Airport.
The SAF, made from plant and animal biofuels, will be used in DHL’s international air cargo operations, significantly reducing lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions versus conventional jet fuel.
2. Expanded Sustainable Shipping Access with SingPost
DHL Express expanded its partnership with SingPost, offering international shipping services at all post offices, bringing international shipping solutions to local shippers.
These shipments also come with complimentary participation in GoGreen Plus. Shippers can opt to use SAF via a “book & claim” system, reducing their shipment’s carbon footprint. DHL also offers sustainable packaging options such as 100% recyclable, FSC-certified brown boxes, encouraging broader customer participation in reducing emissions.

3. GoGreen Plus: Carbon-Reduced Shipping Solutions
GoGreen Plus is DHL’s sustainable logistics service, allowing customers to reduce their shipments’ carbon emissions by incorporating SAF and other low-carbon fuels through a carbon insetting model.
Carbon offsetting: Compensating for carbon emissions through carbon-reduction projects outside the sector of impact.
Carbon insetting: Applying decarbonization measures within the sector of impact.
By focusing on reducing Scope 3 emissions—GoGreen Plus directly contributes to reducing emissions and aligning customers with DHL’s sustainability goals.
4. Sustainable Packaging and Eco-Friendly Options
DHL fully transitioned to using eco-friendly GoGreen boxes made from 100% recyclable materials. Moreover, these boxes are provided to customers free of charge, making sustainable practices more accessible and straightforward for businesses and customers.
5. 117 Electric Vehicles (EV) to date
DHL Express has expanded its fleet of EVs to 117 in Singapore, further supporting decarbonization in our end-to-end logistics. Powered by electricity instead of gasoline, the EVs produce no carbon dioxide while driving and have an overall lower carbon footprint compared to traditional gasoline cars.
Beginning in 2022, EV adoption in Singapore has remained strong due to government policies supporting the growing EV industry as well as more charging stations being deployed island wide. DHL hopes to align itself with these goals to curb its carbon emissions.
Promoting a culture of sustainability
DHL’s sustainability efforts also extend outside of our logistics chain and have been recognized by the industry.
6. DHL X Neste Refinery Tour for DHL customers
DHL Express organized an informative tour for our valued customers at Neste’s Singapore refinery where they learned how Neste transforms renewable wastes and residues into SAF and renewable diesel.

This tour strengthens DHL’s partnership with Neste and showcases our commitment to promoting a culture of sustainability not just among ourselves but with our customers.
7. EuroCham Winner for Leadership in Sustainovation
In October 2025, DHL was awarded the Leader in Sustainovation award by EuroCham for its continued efforts in supporting sustainability in Singapore. The award was one of five presented during the event, held to honour outstanding achievements in sustainability by recognising leaders in key categories of sustainability.
Forging a greener future for logistics
In striving for net-zero emissions by 2050, DHL hopes to do its part to combat climate change through rethinking traditional supply chain solutions and encouraging a green mindset among both its employees and customers. Here’s to continuing our sustainability efforts into 2026 and beyond.
