On May 7th, the Helix in Dublin transformed into a stage of innovation and sustainability as the Junk Kouture Dublin City Final returned with energy, colour, and creativity. The event brought together student designers from across Ireland, each showcasing incredible wearable art made entirely from recycled materials — all in the hope of securing a spot at the Junk Kouture World Final.
As official logistics partner to Junk Kouture, DHL Express Ireland was proud to once again support this celebration of sustainable fashion and youth innovation. From transporting materials and equipment to supporting the event’s operations, DHL plays a key role in helping bring the competition to life — both in Dublin and on the global stage.
But the partnership goes beyond logistics. It’s rooted in a shared commitment to circular thinking and finding value in the materials others often overlook.
Earlier this year, students from Swords Community College visited DHL Express Ireland’s hub in Dublin to learn about the many departments that drive the business — and to explore how sustainability shows up in a fast-paced logistics environment. They saw first-hand the volume of recyclable materials used daily across departments, especially in the warehouse, and were inspired to give those materials a second life.
With support from their school and Junk Kouture, the students designed and created a bold, fashion-forward outfit made entirely from reused DHL items — including belts, jackets, uniforms, and packaging. Their creation wasn’t part of the competition lineup, but it was centre stage at DHL’s sustainable photo booth activation during the Dublin City Final.
The students proudly modelled their outfit, becoming the faces of the DHL activation, striking powerful poses, and showcasing the fusion of logistics and fashion through sustainability. Their presence added a new layer to the experience — showing that repurposed logistics materials can inspire bold, wearable statements.
The activation was a hit with attendees, with many snapping their own photo booth moments and sharing them across social media — tagging DHL and Junk Kouture and celebrating a shared passion for creative sustainability.
Junk Kouture continues to prove that fashion can be fearless, forward-thinking, and environmentally conscious — and DHL Express Ireland is proud to support that mission as the official logistics partner, helping drive the movement forward both in Ireland and around the world.
