Know Your Customer (KYC) Documents for India Shipments

All shipments sent from or received into India need KYC documents (Government recognized Identity and Address proof) to be presented to Customs during shipment clearance.

Absence of these documents will mean clearance delay as shipments will go into Customs Bond until KYC documents are provided by the shipper or consignee based in India.

Consignees receiving shipments in India can upload the documents on our website from their desktosp or smart phone.

Step-by-Step KYC Process

KYC Process for Individuals

  1. Go to https://dhlindia-kyc.com. Close the pop-up by clicking on X.
  1. Click on “CLICK HERE TO UPLOAD YOUR DOCUMENTS”.
  1. Fill in the required fields in order to generate OTP.
  1. Enter the OTP received and click on Login.
  1. Enter the Air waybill/Tracking number, select “Individual – Resident Indian” under the “Type of Customer dropdown” and click on Next.
  1. Select the Document Type, enter the identity number on the document, upload the documents and click on Next.
  1. Select “No” in case if the address on the uploaded document isn’t matching with the delivery address and click Next else select Yes and click on Next.
  1. Select the relevant Document Type and upload. You can select “Other Document” in case if the type of document isn’t listed.
  1. Review the Terms and click on agree.
  1. The documents uploaded will be reviewed and approved within 4 working hours.

KYC Process for Individuals Below 18 years of Age

  1. Go to https://dhlindia-kyc.com. Close the pop-up by clicking on X.
  1. Click on “CLICK HERE TO UPLOAD YOUR DOCUMENTS”.
  1. Fill in the required fields in order to generate OTP.
  1. Enter the OTP received and click on Login.
  1. Enter the Air waybill/Tracking number, select “Individual below 18 years of age” under the “Type of Customer dropdown” and click on Next.
  1. Select the Document Type, enter the identity number on the document, upload the documents and click on Next.
  1. Select “No” in case if the address on the uploaded document isn’t matching with the delivery address and click Next. Else, select Yes and click on Next.
  1. Select the relevant Document Type and upload. You can select “Other Document”s in case if the type of document isn’t listed.
  1. Select the relevant Document Type and upload the document of Parent / Guardian.
  1. Review the Terms and click on agree.
  1. The documents uploaded will be reviewed and approved within 4 working hours.

KYC Process for Foreign Nationals Residing in India

  1. Go to https://dhlindia-kyc.com. Close the pop-up by clicking on X.
  1. Click on “CLICK HERE TO UPLOAD YOUR DOCUMENTS”
  1. Fill in the required fields in order to generate OTP.
  1. Enter the OTP received and click on Login.
  1. Enter the Air waybill/Tracking number, select “Foreign Nationals Residing in India” under the “Type of Customer dropdown” and click on Next.
  1. Upload Passport copy and click on Next.
  1. Upload either of the listed documents as Identity Proof 2. Refer to list of required KYC documents table.
  1. Upload the document that matches the delivery address.
  1. Select the relevant Document Type and upload the document of Parent / Guardian.
  1. Review the Terms and click on agree.
  1. The documents uploaded will be reviewed and approved within 4 working hours.

KYC Process for Proprietor, Partnership Firm, Company

  1. Go to https://dhlindia-kyc.com. Close the pop-up by clicking on X.
  1. Click on “CLICK HERE TO UPLOAD YOUR DOCUMENTS”.
  1. Fill in the required fields in order to generate OTP.
  1. Enter the OTP received and click on Login.
  1. Enter the Air waybill/Tracking number, select relevant type under the “Type of Customer” dropdown. Also download the authorization letter and prepare it as per the note below.
  1. Enter the required details and upload the ICEGATE AD Code screenshot. Click on Save AD Code before clicking on next.
  1. Update the GST details and upload the GST file.
  1. Select the relevant Document Type and upload then click on Next.
  1. Upload the authorization letter and click on Next.
  1. Review the documents and click submit.
  1. The documents uploaded will be reviewed and approved within 4 working hours.

KYC Process for Trust Fund

  1. Go to https://dhlindia-kyc.com. Close the pop-up by clicking on X.
  1. Click on “CLICK HERE TO UPLOAD YOUR DOCUMENTS”.
  1. Fill in the required fields in order to generate OTP.
  1. Enter the OTP received and click on Login.
  1. Enter the Air waybill/Tracking number, select relevant type under the “Type of Customer dropdown”. Also download the authorization letter and prepare it as per the note below.
  1. Enter the required details and upload the ICEGATE AD Code screenshot.
    In case of non availability of IEC, select the reason Importer Category Exempted from Obtaining IEC Number
  1. Select the Document Type and upload Identity Proof 1.
  1. Select the relevant Document Type and upload the Address proof.
  1. Upload the authorization letter and click on Next.
  1. Review the uploaded documents and click submit.
  1. The documents uploaded will be reviewed and approved within 4 working hours.
