UK small businesses facing ‘AI productivity gap’

In a recent study of 1,000 SMEs by the Small Business Institute and Alibaba.com, 70% are somewhat or very confident in using generative AI, however, only 48% are using it regularly, with the report describing this as an ‘AI productivity gap’. Among adopters, only a third apply AI to data analysis or reporting, and just 5% using it for supply chain management. The report said “businesses are yet to extend usage into AI that can tackle more complex, time-consuming and high-value tasks that come with running a business".
