UK Mail: Our Story

UK Mail originated as a taxi firm in Harrow in 1971. In just a few years, the company evolved into a national business offering same day courier and overnight parcel delivery. By 1986, the then much larger company became Business Post, and was then listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1993. UK Mail was granted one seven-year licence by Postcomm in June 2003 and co-wrote the agreement to provide postal services for business customers.

UK Mail began trading in May 2004, with Powergen as its first customer and delivered its one billionth item of mail in October 2006. In July 2009, its parent company, Business Post Group, became UK Mail Group. In September 2016, UK Mail announced that it would be acquired by Deutsche Post (DHL Group).

In October 2025 DHL Ecommerce merged with Evri, having received an unconditional CMA approval in September 2025. Together it created a premier UK delivery giant, handling over 1 billion parcels and 1 billion letters annually. The combined group will leverage Evri’s courier network and DHL’s premium, secure van network. By 2026, DHL eCommerce UK will be rebranded as "Evri Premium – a network of DHL," combining their logistics expertise. UK Mails trusted brand will continue, because our customers recognise our brand is trusted by some of the Uks biggest brands.

Sustainability and CSR

As a responsible carrier we’ve always recognised our impact on the environment and believe in doing the right thing for our people.

As we move towards our net-zero carbon emissions target, which we aim to hit by 2035, ESG forms two of the four core pillars that underpin the Evri brand. Firstly, there’s community: couriers and ParcelShops have always been a key part of our operation and play a vital role in the diverse, dynamic communities we serve across the UK.

Secondly, there’s sustainability itself. We’re growing the biggest sustainable fleet in the industry thanks to our ongoing investment in technology and exploration of alternative fuels.

We know it will be a long journey, but we’re firmly on the right road as we look to deliver a better future for the planet and people – our colleagues, customers and retail partners, and our wider communities.
