Shipping from Brazil to North Africa comes down to three things: choosing an express service, describing the contents and value accurately, and having the Brazilian export paperwork ready. DHL Express serves Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Mauritania, and at a DHL Store in Brazil the team packs your parcel and prepares the documents with you.

Whether you are sending a gift to family in Cairo or a sample to a customer in Casablanca, the question is usually the same: what the destination requires and how much it costs. The Brazilian side is standardised, and the destination rules can be checked before you ship.

Which North African countries does DHL Express serve from Brazil?

Every country in the region appears in the zone table of the DHL Express 2026 Service and Rate Guide for Brazil. Egypt is in zone 6. Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Mauritania are in zone 7. The zone is one of the three price factors, together with weight and delivery speed.

For Egypt, besides DHL Express Worldwide, the guide lists the time definite services DHL Express 12:00 and DHL Express 9:00. For the other countries, service availability varies by destination, and the store team confirms which option reaches your delivery address.

The table summarises what the 2026 guide publishes for the region:

How is the price of a shipment to North Africa calculated?

The price follows the formula DHL Express publishes in its 2026 guide for Brazil: a base price set by weight, zone and delivery speed, plus any optional services you choose and applicable surcharges. Documents and goods have separate rate tables.

That is why two parcels of the same weight can cost different amounts when one goes to Egypt, in zone 6, and the other to Morocco, in zone 7. At a DHL Store, the team shows you the price and transit time before you confirm.

Which documents does Brazil require for an export shipment?

The Brazilian rule depends on the value and purpose of the shipment. According to MyDHL+ Brazil, courier clearance applies to exports with a customs value of up to US$ 1,000, usually small parcels with no commercial purpose, such as books, samples and finished goods. Above US$ 1,000, or when the product requires a Single Export Declaration (DU-E), formal clearance is mandatory.

For courier shipments, you need:

  • a waybill with the sender's CPF or CNPJ
  • an export invoice (nota fiscal) or a substitute declaration for those exempt from issuing one
  • a commercial or pro forma invoice with the declared value

Formal clearance adds a packing list and the DU-E, and the exporter can hire DHL to handle clearance or use their own broker. Our guide to the commercial invoice shows how to fill it in, and the export with DHL section covers the rest of the process.

What happens on arrival in Egypt?

Egypt is the country in the region with the most guidance published by DHL. According to the DHL Express Egypt export guide from October 2023, all international shipments are inspected and are subject to import duty and tax. Duty ranges from 0% to 60% depending on the product classification, and tax from 0% to 14%.

The same guide describes two clearance routes:

  • shipments of up to US$ 2,000, with no restricted goods and no commercial purpose, can use simplified clearance
  • shipments of US$ 2,000 or more, or with goods that need government approval, go through formal clearance

For personal use, the waybill and the commercial invoice are the only documents required. For commercial imports, the Egyptian importer uses the official Nafeza portal to obtain a shipment identification number (ACID), and documents such as a legalised certificate of origin apply.

And in the other countries of the region?

Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Mauritania have their own customs rules, and import duties and taxes are charged at destination. Under the DHL Express Terms and Conditions, the receiver may have to pay duties and charges before delivery, and if they refuse, the sender is liable for those amounts.

What applies everywhere is an accurate description. Vague contents or an undervalued declaration cause delays, and DHL may return an undervalued shipment to the sender. Describe what is inside, the quantity and the real value, and the store turns that information into the right documents.

What can't go in the parcel?

DHL Express keeps an official list of prohibited items that cannot travel to any destination, such as cash, live animals, weapons and counterfeit goods. Lithium batteries, perfume and other goods with specific transport rules need attention before you seal the box.

Check the MyDHL+ Brazil prohibited items list before you pack. If you are unsure about an item, ask at the store or on WhatsApp: it is faster than having the shipment held at customs.

Is there a discount code for North Africa?

Yes. DHL Stores in Brazil run special conditions for shipments to Europe, Asia, North Africa and Oceania, and the current code for each campaign is listed on the DHL discount codes page. At the store, just ask: the team checks whether your shipment qualifies and applies the discount to the quote.

If you prefer to ship online, the code CLICK15 gives 15% off international shipments booked on MyDHL+, valid until 31 December 2026. For valuable parcels, add Shipment Value Protection, which covers loss or damage up to the declared value.
